Wednesday dinner at Amaro’s table in Vancouver

It is Wednesday and once again I get to have dinner with my friends and tonight we are going to Amaro’s table in Vancouver. I so look forward to these outings as not only do I get some much-needed Susan time but I get to spend time with my friends. Now we have gone here several time before and as always, we are always treated wonderful and the food is really good. Julie actually found this place for us to go. Our group has come a long way over the years from just going to Embers to going to a few other LGBT clubs, to going to Harvey’s Comedy club, to doing Wednesday night dinners at a few places and now that has grown to Maybe 10 to 12 places we go on a regular basis and we are looking for new places to go as we branch out into the world.

Now tonight I got home later then normal about 5:45 so it would be a rush, luckily tonight’s dinner is not far and will only take me less than 15 minutes to get there. I started getting ready at 5:50, I had just started and Julie texted me to see what time I would be there. Now I love my Susan time and I love getting ready and doing my makeup even when I have to rush but I really enjoy it more when I can take my time but tonight time was short. On the way home I had decided what dress I would wear and that is always something that slows me down as I almost never wear the first thing I pick. I texted Julie I hoped to be on my way by 6:30 and sure enough I was leaving home at 6:30. It took me a little over 10 minutes to get there and then it was finding a parking spot. Now normally when we have come here, I have not had an issue but tonight was different I drove around the blocks 3 times before I saw someone backing out about a block away so I parked and walked to Amaro’s table.

Now Melissa had called and made reservations as this is a small place, the bad thing was they only had 2 big tables and both were reserved so we would be split up as we have 9 that confirmed for tonight. I walked in and Melissa, Jan and Lynn were already there and to my surprise they had one of the big tables. Turns out one of the other groups canceled so we would all be able to sit together which is nice. I picked a seat towards the middle o the table so I could talk with everyone. Julie showed up next and it was great to see her, this may be her last Wednesday night dinner as she leaves for warmer weather early next Thursday, yes, we are trying to talk her into one last Wednesday dinner before she goes. Our waitress came over to get my drink order and told me what cute boots I had on, I wore may ankle boots tonight and she said several of the girls noticed them when I came in, of course I thanked her. I really do love getting compliments on how I look, it just makes you feel good inside. Barb and Kris were the next to show up, it was great to see both of them. It has been over a month since Kris has been out. It as just a few minutes after 7 when April and Dawnie showed up, they live south of Portland and had a 1 ½ hour drive to get here. They have come out with the group now several times so all 9 of us were here. Now I did get a quick selfie.

We talked for a little bit before we ordered. I of course ordered my normal dinner here, yes, I have my favorites at all the places we go and I tend to stick to them. I guess I am a little predictable. I had their classic fried chicken which is really good and comes with mashed potatoes and a honey butter to put on them, so good. We talked as we waited for dinner and I got a chance to talk some with April and Dawnie which was nice as I don’t know them that well. I really do enjoy talking with people and getting to know them when I am out as Susan.

Our food came and it was awesome and our waitress was wonderful her name was Haleigh. She was just so nice and treated us wonderful. We had a wonderful dinner and great conversation, just a wonderful night out made special with my friends. Now it was time for dessert which I am trying to cut out so I passed but a few of the girls ordered some and shared it so I did have a few bites. We sat and talked till after 9:30 before we called it a night. it really was fun and I am looking forward to next weeks dinner and seeing my friends again. We all said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. It really is funny as I need a couple days a week as Susan to keep balance in my life. My female side really is a big part of my life and who I am, you could say she makes my life complete.

Wednesday night dinner at Amaro’s Table in Vancouver

It is Wednesday night and we are having dinner in Vancouver at Amaro’s Table; we have eaten here before back in February and it is very nice but a little small so Barb who picked tonight’s dinner made reservations as it looks like we will have 8 to 10. Now I love the Wednesday night dinners but they are hard to make as I get off so late, it Is usually 5:30 give or take 15 minutes when I get home so it is always a rush as most places we got take at least a half hour to get there but tonight is closer so I have a little more time which is nice as it was almost 5:40 when I got home. now I have figured out the secret to getting ready fast. Chose your outfit the night before and don’t change your mind. So, when I got home my dress was on my bed along with my heels and it was just a matter of doing my makeup and getting ready. I was ready and pulling out of my garage at 6:20 and on my way and tonight it should only take about 10 minutes to get there. I got downtown Vancouver at 6:35 and found a parking spot right on the corner opposite the door, yes parking is easier in Vancouver and they stop charging at 6 which is nice also.

I went in and Barb, Jonnie and Nicole were already there so I sat down between Barb and Nicole. Our waitress came over to see if I wanted a drink and of course I did so I ordered my usual, a sprite, yes, I drink the hard stuff. Actually, I have never cared for Alcohol, growing up my parents would let me have a little at home if I wanted and it never became that big of a thing. Yes, I can drink a beer or a little wine now and then but if you give me options, they would be the last on my list. I often joke with some of the girls that my best friend on my male side of over 35 years who doesn’t know about Susan, if you told him you saw me in a bar dressed as a women, I really think he would be more shocked I was at a bar.

Well it wasn’t long and Melissa, Julie and Kris showed up so we had 7 and 2 had to cancel so that would be it for the night. I think back to when I first started going out if we got 6 or 8 on a Friday or Saturday night at Embers which was an LGBT club, we were having a great night. now we can get 7 at a small restaurant in downtown Vancouver. We have come a long way in the last 10 plus years. Well we all ordered dinner and then sat and talked and with the smaller group it was easy for everyone to be involved in the conversation which is always nice. Now our waitress was awesome tonight but really, we pretty much always get wonderful service and I sometimes wonder if they try a little harder because we are transgender. Don’t get me wrong as I love the great service but part of what I am going for is to be accepted and treated like any other woman not necessarily better but equal.

Now I ordered their classic fried chicken which is awesome but what really makes this a wonderful dinner option is it comes with mashed potatoes and a honey butter to go on it which is wonderful, I would highly recommend this as a dinner choice. Well we all sat around and talked as we ate and had a wonderful time. People came and went and I did see a couple people look over at us mostly men and I always wonder what they are thinking and if they are secretly wishing they could dress up and go out with us. Mostly people didn’t pay any attention to us though. It was so nice to spend time with my wonderful friends; this is actually Nicole’s 3rd time out with us in a month which is awesome a she lives a couple hours away.

We finished dinner and a couple of the girls ordered dessert, I was a good girl and didn’t as I am trying to cut sugar out of my diet which is hard. I know Sprite has sugar in it but what I am talking about is the cookies, chocolate and all the other deserts that I was eating way too much as I have no will power when it comes to them. If I don’t eat them, I don’t miss them but once I have some I crave more. I wonder if this is how people who smoke feel. Our waitress kept checking on us as I said she was awesome; I wish I had got her name. If you are looking for a nice place in Vancouver for dinner Amaro’s Table should be at the top of your list.

Now the night went by so fats as they always do and as we sat there talking, I noticed it was getting dark outside a sign it getting late but we were just having so much fun. Soon it was dark and we all knew it was time to call it a night as it was after 10. We all paid our bills and said our goodbyes which is always hard. some of these girls are my best friends and really more like family, sisters. I really am blessed to have such wonderful friends in my life. We all left and again one of the great things about dinner in Vancouver is the parking as we were all able to park close. Now even thought it was after 10 when we left, I only had a 10-minute drive home so still got home about the normal time.

It was a wonderful night out as always and I am already looking forward to Saturday when I will once again get to go out. Thanks for reading and be sure and check out my most recent blog to see what is new with Susan.

Wednesday night dinner at Amaros Table in Vancouver

Today is Wednesday and our group is once again doing its Wednesday night dinner at Amaros Table in Downtown Vancouver. Now we have done dinners at Who Song and Larry’s in Vancouver and I have met a few girls at McMenamins on the river but generally we do Dinners in Portland so this is a new place for our group. Now Julie picked the place and made the reservations for 7, Thanks Julie. Now we had 6 of us confirm through the mail group and 1 maybe so once again we should have a nice turnout. Now I have never been here before which is always fun and it gives us a chance to expand our world. When I fist started going out it was always the same place Embers (which has closed), we knew it was a safe accepting place to go and at that time it was awesome as I really never thought I could even go out. Now we go where ever we want and that is so awesome. Now don’t get me wrong as there is nothing wrong with having a place you go regular like the Escape as it does give girls who are newer to going out a comfortable place and one, they can count on others being there.

Now I started getting ready when I got home, I really look forward to these dinners out with my friends. I really like going out but for me where we go is not as important as being out with my friends. Now I was ready by 6:30 and on my way, it takes less than 15 minutes to get there so I had plenty of time. I got there about 6:45 and found a parking spot almost right in front. As I got out of my car, I heard Julie call my name she had just parked across the street so I waited for her and we walked in together. Melissa and her wife were already there and had our table. Now this is a smaller restaurant but very nice inside.

We sat down and talked as we waited for the rest of our group. It wasn’t long and Barb Karren and finally Kris showed up so we had 7 tonight. We have been doing really well on our Wednesday night dinners with 6 to 10 every week for the last 5 or 6 weeks. Our waitress came and took our order, she was really wonderful and treated us just like any other bunch of ladies. We all ordered, there menu is really nice but more of the mid-range ($10 to $25). We had a wonderful dinner and that sat and talked for a while. It was a wonderful evening out with friends and we got to try a new place although I think Julie has been here before as her male self.

Our waitress came over to see how we were ding and Julie asked her to take a picture of our group and she was only too happy to so we got a picture of all of us out which is a nice way to remember a fun evening out. It was about 9:30 when we left so it is an earlier night as I am only 15 minutes from home. We all said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. Now Julie is going out of town which is good for her but sad for us as it may be a few months till we see her again, probably Diva Las Vegas if she can go. Now I am looking forward to Saturday night out with my friends again.
