Susanmillers Blog

My life as a heterosexual crossdresser.

Short notice but a chance for a manicure and pedicure.

Well a lot going on in my life and my free time and Susan time is very limited. Now I have worked it out for next weekend to go to the Red Dress Party with Julie and Trixie so I am excited about that. My plan was to get my nails done next weekend but that would mean going 3 weeks between trips to the nail salon which I thought I could do, that is till I was getting dressed this morning and broke 2 of the corners of my nails off well the acrylic off the top. Now I had my doubt I could make it till next weekend as my nails underneath are thin and week. I wasn’t sure what I could do as I had family things today, my mom is in rehab and my dad doesn’t drive anymore so that was going to be my day. Any way a couple of my parent’s friends called and were coming to see them and as there is limited room I figured it was a chance to get my nails done. It would be another quick outing but better than nothing.

I called Dream nails about 11 to see if I could get in at 12:30 and I could. As one of my parent’s friends had arrived I left and was on my way out with only a slight delay. On my way, out I ran into someone and talked to them for a short while which put me a little behind. Wow I so want to include this in my blog as it is a really funny story but as it mostly deals with my male life I just can’t but you would dye laughing. It was 11:30 when I got home so I had to rush and get ready. I got to the salon just before my appointment as it is only a couple minute drive. There was only 1 lady there getting a pedicure so I didn’t have to wait.

It was so nice to get a pedicure again as it has been a while. It wasn’t long and another woman came in and then a man and a woman. They were getting busy. I guess I picked the right time. I really enjoyed my pedicure although the lady doing it was very gentle when she massaged my legs, but it still felt good and she did a wonderful job. She was just getting ready to paint my toes when 3 women came in turns out the 2 girls brought their mom in for a manicure and pedicure for an early Mother’s Day girls day out. They were seated at the far end and I was in the first seat. Wow this is too funny and I wish I could share, well a little bit won’t hurt. I know one of the woman. Something I have worried about for a long time, wondering if I would run into someone I know here, although she doesn’t live in the area just a chance meeting. She was busy with her sister and mom so didn’t pay any attention to anything around them after all it was all about their mom.

Now it was time for my manicure or rather my fill, yes, I am still wearing a thin layer of acrylic on my nails. I sat at the front table and Anna started working on my nails. Now I could see the 3 of them in the back and it was funny as they had one of the nail techs take a picture of the 3 of them. There were caught up in their own world down there so I relaxed a little and enjoyed my experience. Anna ground some of the old acrylic off and shortened my nails, wow I had let them get a little long. Then she shaped them and put on the new layer of acrylic. It was a relaxing time. Now it was time for polish but first I had to go wash my hands, I forgot about this part. The sink is in the back of the shop where the 3 women were one I know. She was actually in the far back chair almost right next to the sink but this also meant she was twisted towards her mom to talk and not looking at the sink. As I walked back I was looking at the TV on the opposite wall so I could keep my head turned away from them. I washed my hands and walked back to the manicure table and sat down and looked back at them and they were still talking between themselves and of course all attention was on their mom so I am sure they didn’t even notice me.

Anna put the gel polish on my nails my same polish I get pretty much every time, clear with just a slight rose color. My nails look wonderful and next week I am thinking of trying Julie’s trick and putting red polish over the top for the night. That is one of the reasons I wanted to wait for next Saturday as I could have had it all done at the nail salon. Soon my nails were done and beautiful again and I was ready to leave. I got up to pay and was standing by the counter as the three in the back were finishing up on their pedicures and would be moving to a manicure table to get their finger nails done. But it was okay as I was on my way out now.

I left and still had about 45 minutes so I made a quick trip across the street to Starbucks for about a half hour to write my blog and let my toe nails finish drying before heading home and going back to my male self probably till next Saturday. In all it was a quick trip out as I was on my way home by 2:30.

Thanks for reading.

A quick trip out for a manicure

It has been a while since I have been able to get out and the next month or two will be hard to get out, Family health issues. The last time I was out was for Wednesday night dinner with my friends on April 12th and I didn’t even get a chance to blog about it as the next day things got busy so I will include a little about that night in today’s blog at the end and of course a few pictures from that night. This is Julie and me at dinner. Anyway, back to today.

I really needed a manicure as the last one was on April 4th when I got back from Diva Las Vegas and I decided to keep the acrylic on my nails although a thin layer so it is not real noticeable. Any way it had grown out and I had actually had to file my nails shorter twice over the 3 ½ weeks it has been. I didn’t know when I was going to get a chance to get them done and then luck happened today and I had a few hours, well 3 hours open as my parents had some friends up to see my mom who is having the health issues so I took the opportunity to squeeze in a short Susan day and get my nails done. It would be a rush though. It was noon when I called to see if I could get in at 1 to get my nails done and Anna said that was fine so I had to rush getting ready. I think this was one of my fastest times getting ready as I was at the nails salon by 12:50, only a couple minutes from where I live. Anna greeted me and said it had been a while and I had to admit it has been, they said they missed me which made me feel good.

They were not busy so Anna was ready for me so I didn’t have to wait. I guess having the first nice weekend of the year people had other things to do then get their nails done. Now I have had Acrylic nails many times over the years but never long enough to get a fill which is what I will get today so it will be interesting to experience that. Now in some ways it is quicker as Anna didn’t have to soak the gel polish off she just ground it off as she also needed to take off some of the acrylic and get it ready for the overlay of acrylic. Now there was one other lady here getting a pedicure but soon people started to come in I guess I timed it right. Even a couple came in to get pedicures and the man had on a dark brownish polish on his toes, they had matching colors. His wife wanted to get pink today and although I wasn’t there long enough to see if he got the same color he did say it was her choice and that pink was the new black so I am guessing he will leave with pink toenails.

Anna did an excellent job on my nails and I had her file them back a little but they still look awesome, really wish I could have red on them. Now she asked me about a pedicure and I really wanted one but I am taking a break from them for a bit, yes, my toes have not had polish on them for 3 ½ weeks now so boring and ugly they look. This is the most days I have gone without polish on them for probably 12 years which is the reason why. I always chose a red or dark color and it turns out toe nails grow so slow it is not good to keep them covered with dark colors for that long. Makes your nails unhealthy and in my case one of them kind of broke apart and I lost half of it. I hope to be able to get a pedicure next time I got to the nail salon and I will have to put some lighter colors on them every occasionally. It took Anna about 40 minutes to do my nails so it was about 1:30 when I left with my pretty nails. Now I had my computer in the car and I wanted to take full advantage of this quick outing so I went to the Starbucks by my house.

They were not busy so I didn’t have to wait in line, again a couple of the girls here told me it had been a while since they had seen me and they missed me. It is nice to feel welcomed. I ordered a drink and a snack and sat down to do my blog really quick. I still need time to get home and change back to my male self before being over where my mom is by 3. I think this will be my shortest time as Susan, from boy to girl and back again in 3 hours but it is worth it as I am not sure when or how much I will get to be Susan for a while.

The Starbucks is actually busy but most come in and get a drink and leave, but there is maybe 8 other people here at tables now. It is a fun place to go for a few hours and do work and people watch. Well it is now 2:10 and I need to get home and clean up and wash all traces of Susan away so I will sign off here. There will not be a lot of blogs or Susan time over the next month or two. I will be spending a lot of time helping my parents

Tuesday last day of vacation and the red nails go away.

Tuesday is here the day I have been dreading. I got up early as I had some things I had to do so I was out as my male self with long bright red nails. I took care of what I had to do and then I was going home to become Susan for a few hours more. On the way, I decided to stop at a Starbucks as my male self. I lucked out as the Starbucks I stopped at had all girls working 5 of them. I ordered my drink and then carefully put my credit card in the machine trying to keep my nails as hid as I could. Both girls at the counter must have seen them as they both told me how beautiful they were which they really are. I thanked them, they didn’t seem that surprised by a man with pretty nails. I spent about an hour here before going home to become Susan.

I got home at noon and made the phone call to the nail salon something I was not looking forward to which is strange as I am always looking forward to going to the nail salon. Anna answered and I asked I could get in and she said 3 was good so I had a couple more hours of pretty nails. I then asked her if she could really make my nails look natural and keep the acrylic so as no one could tell and she assured me she could. I still have doubts but I told her that was what I wanted to do. So, I will still have acrylic on my nails I guess just a thinner layer. I was all ready by 1:20 so I figured instead of going early to the nail salon I would go to the Starbucks by my house which is right across the street from Dream Nails and hang out here till a little before 3. I took a quick selfie before leaving the house.

I got to the Starbucks about 1:30 and they were a little busy at least for the middle of the day I thought. The girl who took my ordered remembered me and asked didn’t you use to come in in the evenings, it has been a while. It is nice to be remembered and I said yes and told her I have a nail appointment across the street and had some time to kill.

I got my drink and sat down to start my blog which I will have to finish after my nail appointment and of course I had to get a picture of my nails and how they look now. The Gel Polish on the acrylic held up really well, no chips, scratches or wearing off on the edges. They look just as good as they did 12 days ago, when I got them. I will also post an after picture, I am really wondering about my decision to keep the acrylic. I really hope Anna is right and it will not be noticeable as I go back to work tomorrow. I am hoping that the fact I have kept my nails looking nice and a little long that no one will really pay attention to them. I sent about 1 ½ hours here at Starbuck’s catching up on e-mails and doing a little work. It is a great way to pass time.

I also got a message from a Facebook friend from the east coast, she will be in town the end of the week for work and on Friday she is going to Over the Rainbow for a makeover and wants to go out so she is going to meet me at Sweet Home at 6:30. This will only be her second time going out so it will be fun. I am looking forward to meeting her. I left Starbucks and went to the nail salon just before 3.

They were not busy, I was the only one there so there was no waiting Anna was ready to do my nails. Now as I am leaving the acrylic on Anna just started to grind off the top layer, the red layer. The first bit was the hardest as my red was no longer glossy smooth. The red dust piled up as one nail after another lost its red color. This is always so sad and I guess it would not be if I was putting another color on. Soon all the color was off and she started to grind the acrylic down to a thinner layer. I was kind of amazed and surprised as it really did look like my natural nail, I had my doubts but Anna was right. I guess if you looked really close you would be able to tell the texture of the nail was different.

Now came the big question, Anna asked me if I wanted them shortened and I so wanted to tell her no but I just couldn’t go to work with that long of nails so I said yes cut them down. Now normally she uses nail cutters but she put a little sanding wheel in her grinder and zip the first nail was short. I looked at it and told her that was good and she went right to work on the rest of the nails and soon they were all short or so I thought. A couple tips I discovered. First after having long nails it is hard to judge length and when you have 4 long nails on one hand and one shorter that you are comparing it to it really does look short. I actually left my nails somewhat long and in two week when I go back they will really be long.

Now it was time for the Gel polish and I went back to my clear with a slight pink tint to it. Two coats of that Gel polish and a clear top coat and my nails look awesome and you really can’t tell I have acrylic on them, they look awesome. The whole thing took about 45 minutes but as I said a little on the long side. Here is a picture of them now.

Now I had some things I had to do which luckily, I could do as Susan including getting gas for my car, you know just routine chores. It was now about 5 and I was thinking what to do. I wanted something to eat but really wasn’t hungry so I decided to go back to the Starbucks by my house and get a snack and a drink and work on my computer for a while and of course update my blog. I will hang out here for a couple hours as I do have some work I need to do on the computer and then I will go home and officially end my vacation it has been a fun 12 days and I am sad to see it come to an end but it will be nice to take a break from doing makeup everyday as it will be Friday the next chance I get to go out and meet my friend from the East coast.

Thanks for reading and sharing my vacation with me.

Thursday night before Diva Las Vegas

Thursday is here and my vacation starts, I got off work early and rushed home. I have a 3:30 nail appointment to get my nails done. Acrylic nails, long pretty nails. It has been two years since I last had acrylic nails so I am really looking forward to it. I am all packed and ready to go. I got home and got ready turning myself into Susan for the next 12 days. I was all ready by 3 and put thing in my car and one last look to make sure I was not forgetting anything. Now I was on my way to the Salon which only takes a couple minutes.

I got there at 3:15 and went in, there were a few ladies there getting their nails done but Anna was waiting for me so she could start my nails as soon as I picked out my color, Ferrari red to match my toes. Yes, I love red nails. Anna did a great job as always. She removed the gel polish and glued on tips and cut to the length I wanted, between ¼ & ½ inch. A little shorter than I would have liked but they must be short enough to hold a golf club. Now she put the Acrylic on the nails and shaped and smoothed them out, they looked so wonderful and natural. Anna told me they looked very natural and I could keep them and just trim them back and no one would notice. Now I was looking at them and wondering if she was right and I could keep them, I so want to.

Now it was time for the polish, I went for the gel polish. A little more expensive but I don’t have to worry about messing the polish up as they are dry in minutes. I think all the times I have gotten acrylic nails over the year maybe once I didn’t mess up the polish getting into the car or putting the seatbelt on. They looked so beautiful, I so want to keep them. It was 4:15 when I walked out of the salon with my beautiful nails.

Now I was driving to Cassandra’s house as we are leaving for Diva Las Vegas Friday morning. Cassandra was still packing when I got there about 5:30. She is taking way more than I am but I still have way more than I need, at least 20 dresses probably more, 4 pairs of Capri’s, 3 pairs of Jegging’s, 3 pairs of legging’s, 6 pairs of heels and a few other casual shoes.

Peggy brought home dinner which was really good and very nice of them to have me for dinner tonight. I am so looking forward to being Susan for 12 days. The only thing I brought of my male self is my Divers License and a male credit card. We had a very nice dinner and talked about our trip. It is sad Peggy can’t go with us. Cassandra is a big college basketball fan and she wants to watch a game Friday night that starts at 6:30 so we decided to leave at 2 AM instead of 4 so now being almost 9 pm I decided to go to bed so I could get a few hours sleep. Cassandra will travel as her male self but as I am Susan I will need at least an hour in the morning to get ready so I will be up at 1 am, short night but I can’t wait. So Thursday day 1 as Susan comes to an end. Now I had to get one picture before going to bed.

Thanks for reading.

PS I am writing this blog Friday on the drive down to Las Vegas with my beautiful red nails.

Great idea for fast beautiful nails

Well over the last few months I have had several people ask me about how I do my nails. I try never to go out without long pretty nails as I think that is the most feminine thing you can have. Now nothing can beat going to a nail salon and getting acrylic nails, one of my favorite things to do but as most of my life I am male except for a few hours a week I had to find a new way to have long beautiful nails that was fast and easy to put on and also take off without damaging my nails or leaving traces that people might notice when I am not Susan.

The first problem was finding nails that would fit my fingers. Now I am lucky as my fingers are not really that much bigger so I started looking around. For the most part I have used the KISS brand nails and what I found was the largest 5 sizes fit each of my fingers. I was walking through Wal-Mart one day and they had a box of 200 nails in 11 sizes for $7 so I bought it. I have also seen them at Walgreens and Rite-aid stores about the same price. Now out of the 200 nails I was able to get 8 sets of nails which works out to less than $1.00 a set.

Once you have your nails you need to paint them. Right now I have 5 set done in 4 different colors, my favorite color I have to sets. Now there are two ways to paint them, the easiest and fastest is to get a piece or ½ dowel, which you can get at Home Depot or Lowes. You can attach the nails to the dowel with mounting clay from any craft store. Works good as you can line up 4 sets at a time down the length of the dowel, this way you can paint one color, roll the dowel and do the next color and by the time you get back to the first set you can start the second coat or top coat. Now the best way but slower is to put the nails on (see how I do this below). Once you have them on you can paint them on your fingers while watching TV or a movie. This is a really fun way to spend an evening. Once you have several sets in different colors you are all set and you can easily change nail color depending on your outfit or look.

Now there are many ways to attach nails glue being the easiest and the way most do them but this is really hard on your nails especially if only for a couple hours and can damage your nails really bad if you do this a few times a week. What I use is really simple and allows me to put my nails on or take them off in less than 5 minutes and I can reuse the nails many times. Now I would love to take credit for this idea but I think it was Barb (member in our group) who came up with it and told Cassandra who in turn told me. We use Scotch 1 inch indoor outdoor mounting tape which you can buy at Home Depot, yes girl beauty supplies now available at Home Depot. The tape is a little think so it leaves a little gap on the edges but unless someone looks really close they won’t even notice and it really holds the nails on tight. You cut little squares about and place on each nail, peel the tape off and stick to your nails. It is just that simple. The tape holds really well even in water. The one drawback is if the nail comes off the tape won’t stick again so you need a new piece of tape. Now I have been using this method twice a week sense March and only once have I lost a nail, Cassandra has lost a couple but it works really well. When you want to remove the nails just pull down on the tip and while slipping a wood cuticle stick in from the base of the nail and gently lift up till the nails come off. Once off scrape the tape off and put your nails away for the next time you want to use them. If you buy the big roll of tape, about $15 for 37 feet it will last you over a year and sense you can reuse the nails many many time. What a great way to have long beautiful nails that any girl would love. Have fun and I hope you find this helpful. Will not work on French nails or really light color nail polish as the tape is gray and will show through, Reds and darker colors work really well, Pinks if you put on several coats.

Should be back out at Starbuck’s on Wednesday night so will post again then.
Big Thanks to Cassandra for telling me about this and for Barb with coming up with the idea.

Friday night at the P-Club

Well it was another fun night out. I went to the P-Club on Lombard in Portland to meet up with my friends something I look forward to all week. I started getting ready a little earlier as I didn’t want to have to rush as I enjoy the whole Susan experience including getting ready and doing my makeup something most guy’s will never experience which is a shame. It is so much fun to try different looks with the makeup, I went for a little more dramatic look with my eyes as I think this is one of the areas my makeup skills lack and you know what they say practice make perfect or in my case better. I wore my grey sweater dress and put on my black knee high boots as it is such a cute look but at the last minute I changed from my boots to my 4″ heels as they show my pretty painted toes and usually we sit a lot at the P-club so I wanted the look.

I got to the P-club right at 7:30 and Cassandra pulled in right behind me so we all walked in as a group. Cassandra, Peggy, Wilma and me, this was Peggy’s first time here. They were not very busy yet so we got a couple tables and pulled them together and ordered some drinks and some food. It wasn’t long and others girls started to show up and our group out grew the two tables we had. Maya and Mindy (Mindy is her daughter and so accepting and friendly of us); Roxy, Cristine, Jan, Lynn, Brook and Diane who is in town from back east. I know I am missing someone sorry.

Diane had on this cute grey sweater dress with black knee high boots so had I wore my boots we would have looked almost the same other than her dress was just a little different style and a little shorter. It was so funny so of course we took some pictures with Diane’s camera; my batteries were dead as I forgot to change them after Halloween when I took way to many pictures.

Brook was there again and in girl mode for the second week in a row which is nice as she works so much it is really hard for her to get out and she really likes to spend time as her female self. We had a chance to talk for a while which is fun as I think being able to share a little girl talk is one of my favorite things as Susan.

Well next up was shuffle board (they have a table version) so Cassandra and Diane challenged Peggy and me. Cassandra and I had played before but Diane and Peggy had not so we explained how it works and then we started playing. The first game Peggy and I won, we led the whole game. It was so fun. The second game Diane and Cassandra won so you guessed it we had to play another game, Peggy and I took an early lead but Cassandra had some good shots and got a couple with high scores so in the end they won but it was way too much fun. We went back to the table to sit and rest as 4″ heels are not what you want to spend your whole evening standing on but they look cute and that is what is important.

Next Maya asked me to play ping pong so I did even though she is really really good and I knew I would lose. There was a table up by the ping pong table with about 7 people at it (4 girls 3 guys) and they were watching us play so I tried my bet and did have a few good shots and scored some points. We played 2 games and I can tell you playing ping pong in heels is not easy as you do have to move around a lot as you chase that ball. Also a sweater dress is a little warm for physical activity. I really needed to sit down and cool off and have another drink but it was so fun.

Later on it was so funny as Maya and a couple of the other girls were teaching Mindy how to walk in her heels and dress. She is so cute but she is more of a cowgirl type. This was her first time she said wearing a dress and heels so these T-girls were teaching her. So funny to see T-girls teaching a GG how to be walk in heels. She also does not usually wear makeup but Maya got her to put on some eye makeup and a really pretty shade of red lipstick which looked great on her.

Once again it was time for shuffle board so Diane and Brook challenged Mindy and me to a game so I was back up on my feet that were already killing me to play another game. This one guy who was really pretty drunk kept coming up to us he really liked Mindy as she really did look good but he was following her like a puppy dog. And of course was hitting on the rest of us also. At one point he set a pitcher of beer right in the middle of the shuffle board game and got beer on the table and the salt on the top so we had to stop the game and clean that part of the table. Mindy kept telling him to sit and he would for a few minutes and then he was right back by us and once again Mindy would tell him to sit, just like training a puppy. Well Mindy and I won 2 games and I really needed to sit now and rest my feet and for the first time I took my heels off while still out such a girl thing to do. I have seen other woman do this but till this point have never been willing to do. So I sat at the table resting my feet and they did feel better.

A couple woman came up to us a couple different times and told us how nice we all looked and they were glad we were there. They were so nice and we chatted with them for a while. It is nice when we are out to have people tell you that you are welcome in a place and they even like us to be there.

The rest of the evening Peggy, Roxy, Jan, Lynn and I sat and talked. It was so nice and relaxing. Peggy and Cassandra are planning on going to Diva Las Vegas in April 2011 and so am I so we talked a little about that. We want to do the same thing we did last year, leave Friday and drive to LA, spend Saturday in LA maybe go to Universal again and have lunch outside and then go to the Oxwood Saturday night and then Sunday on to Las Vegas for the week. It was so fun last year and we are all looking forward to this year. I once again plan on doing the whole trip as Susan again and yes that defiantly means having Acrylic nails as I love them and could never pass up a chance to have them. I talked a little with Diane to see if she could meet us there and also hope more from our group the Rose_City_T-girls can go. We may even try a different hotel this year.

Well it was about 1 AM when I left, it had been a long day as I get up really early during the week. Some of the girls stayed but this girls feet were dead. May have to wear shorter heels next time we go here.

Famous hands, see my acrylic nails on a beauty blog

Well just a quick post tonight. A while back I was surfing the internet and did a search for acrylic nails and found a couple pictures of my hands when I had acrylic nails. One stood out as it was not from my web page so I clicked the link and wound up on a beauty blog. They had an article on acrylic nails and they used one of my pictures. They even gave me credit for the photo and if you click on it, it links back to my picture on my flickr page (I guess that is why this one picture of my acrylic nails have gotten so many hits. My hands are famous (Susan the hand model). I thought this was pretty cool.

What makes it even better is this is not a t-girl blog it is a mainstream beauty blog, not sure if they knew I was a t-girl before they used it or not but either way they did. You can check out their blog (and my picture) at http://www.beauty-blogs.com/uncategorized/care-acrylic-nails/
