Friday at Easy Street

Well it was another fun night out for Susan and her friends. It started off a little iffy as the Yahoo group Rose_City_T-Girls was having some issues and most of the posts were delayed so we weren’t sure where we were going till early Friday when like 50 posts all came through. We had settled on Easy Street for the night which is a really nice friendly neighborhood bar on Powell (6618 SE Powell BLVD). All the employees there are so great just a really fun place to be. I got there about 7:45 and Wilma, Cass, Amber, Michele and Melissa were already there. We added a table to the booth they were in and as more girls showed up we just kept adding tables. Jan, Lynn, Barb, Cristine, Bob and Christine all showed up and we had an awesome time, lots of girl talk with some pool mixed in and yes this girl won 3 games in a row but then lost to Cass but came close to winning that game too.

I got a chance to talk with Melissa for a good part of the night. She is a GG that belongs to our group and she is just so much fun and I really enjoyed talking to her and getting to know her. I think that is the best part of this group meeting new people and making new friends. It is great that our group includes people who are support us even though they are non transgender themselves. It really does give our group a well rounded mix and makes it more like a family.

Christine also made it out tonight; it was her first time other than parties or fetish balls. For just going out for a fun night on the town it was her first. With the big group sand taking up one long table I didn’t get a good chance to really talk to her which was sad. We have chatted a few times on line and I was looking forward to talking face to face and getting to know her better. We did get a chance just before she left to talk a bit and she seems really nice. I am sure she will be out again and we will have lots of time to talk.

There was a fairly good crowd there and several people were playing ping pong so we never really got a chance to play Jenga as with the crowd someone might have bumped the table and caused it to fall. Too bad maybe next time as it is so fun with a big group.

The group that was playing ping pong did give us a couple funny looks but they seemed okay with us being there. One girl came in and looked so cute in a blue dress with her right arm and shoulder bare, really sparkly tights and the cutest boots. As she walked by she told me how cute my dress was and of course I also told her how great she looked. We ended up talking for a few minutes as we were leaving we talked with her and the two guys she was with for about 10 minutes. They were really nice.

It was a really fun and enjoyable night. I think we left about 2:15. It was a really late night. By the time we left it was really cold and rainy outside and of course we were all parked about a block away so got just a little wet and cold but what is a girl to do.

Friday night at Easy Street 10-8-2010

Well it was another fun night out for Susan. We decided to go back to Easy Street. Seems that the Candle light has had more problems than I was aware of, as it seems some threats were made and even a bottle thrown at one of the girls in the group. This is not to reflect on the candle light itself as they took care of it and escorted them out but it still brings up safety issues which none of us want. We all know anyplace we go will have issues, some won’t like us or want us there and we can deal with that but safety must always come first, male or female it does not matter.

Anyway as I said we went to Easy Street and had a fun time and we had a great turnout from our group. I lost count and would never remember everyone who was there but I bet it was upwards of 25. It was kind of funny as I bet there were no more than 6 other people at any one time there that weren’t part of our group. Any way I got there at 7:30 so I was on time for once and Cassandra, Teresa and Wilma had just got there and Amy, Mia and one of her friends followed me in so right from the start we had a good turnout.

They had no band so that may have been why it was so slow. It is kind of a catch 22 we are a huge part of their business right now and we all feel very safe there but if business picks up for them and we become a smaller presence will we feel as safe and if business does not pick up for them will they stay in business or will we lose them as a place to go. Now from talking to the employees there and Jodi who manages it we will always be welcome by them but customers are another issue as we learned from the Candlelight. So I guess that being said I will give them a plug, if you live In Portland give them a try. They are on Powell about the 6600 block. The club that was there closed down last year and they have really fixed it up nice inside and have a pool table and ping pong on nights the band is not there.

It was nice to see Teresa out again as she has been working some really long hours this summer which is good for her as with the economy you need to work when you can but it also limited her time out. I had a good chance to talk to her and catch up on things you know a little girl talk. I also talked to Cassandra she commented on the pictures on Diva Las Vegas web page from this year and how many we were in. seems we both like our picture taken. Anyway Cassandra and Peggy are interested in going again this coming year and you all know I plan on going if I can work the time off from work. We also talked to Teresa about going and I think she will if she can get time off work also. She had planned on going last year but was off work so long and then started right before Diva Las Vegas and had to cancel. Cassandra and I think it would be a blast if we got maybe 10 girls from our group to go this coming year. The thing great about Diva Las Vegas is it is what you make of it, you can spend as much or as little dressed and you can be out in public or limit it to the diva Las Vegas activities so something for everyone. Diva Las Vegas a attracts transgender people from all over the world so it is really a fun place to meet new people and the only cost you have is for what you want to do, no fees to attend. Well I guess that is my pitch for Diva Las Vegas.

Well again back to Friday at Easy Street. Brook made it out as Brook, first time in a long while so it was great to see her as herself. It was funny as we both wore black dresses, we could have been sisters accept for the color of our hair and the fact we don’t look alike, small details. Took a few pictures of us as this girl is a total camera hog. If there is a camera around Susan will be close. Brook looked so relaxed and at easy I could tell she has really missed being able to express this side of her. I really hope she can get out more. It is so hard to suppress part of yourself for any reason and I know from my own experience when I go for periods of time without being able to express Susan the stress level raises for me.

Victoria showed up with Julie and Valerie, I have never met Valerie before so it was nice to meet someone new and she seemed really nice. Victoria did both their makeup, she runs over the rainbow transformation which does transformations for transgender people and she does an awesome job. Again another shameless plug, if you are in Portland and looking for help looking more feminine or just some help check out her web page and give her a call. Both girls looked great.

About 11 or so some of the girls headed over to the E room as this is there last weekend open; they are closing due to lack of business. They wanted to dance and sense easy Street didn’t have a band there was no dancing. So our group split up and some stayed and played pool and talked (I was in this group as I am not a dancer). I played a couple games of pool and won against Cassandra which is always a highlight of the night as she is so good at pool, and yes I won not like other times where I just got lucky, I had a really good game.

Well a little after midnight we broke out the giant Jenga blocks and started t play. We had such a big group around including the bar tenders girlfriend who by the way was just as awesome as the women who work there. The first game I think we had 9 people and Brook brought it all tumbling down, I was just glad it wasn’t me. One of the GG’s at the table next to us who were there before we got there came over and took a couple pictures of the game. When we started the second game we invited them to play and they joined us. We had a great time and according to the bartenders girlfriend the record for the bar was 28 rows high and when we (robin) finally knocked it over we had 1 of 3 blocks on the 28 row so we tried the record, how cool is that for a bunch of amateur t-girls. It was a really fun night and when we left it was almost 2 am. Such a fun night.

Friday night at Easy Street

Well I made it out again Friday night. The last couple weeks have been so busy and I so look forward to my Susan time to get away for a while and relax. I took my time getting ready so I could really enjoy it. Not sure how many others enjoy the time we girls spend getting all pretty from the shower right through the makeup and putting on our cute cloths and heels but for me this is all part of the experience and I enjoy it all. Now to be total fair maybe if I did this every day of my life and spent the hour and a half every day I may not feel the same but I really doubt it as I love it so much and the look when I am done is so worth the time.

Well I had told friends I would be at Easy Street by 7:30 and as I took a little longer getting ready I was running late so I rushed getting dressed and was out and driving down the street. I was about a mile from home when I noticed I forgot my bracelets and ring. Now I didn’t want to be any later and really didn’t want to have to go back home as it would mean driving through my neighborhood 2 more times once going home and once leaving but I just had to have my jewelry so I turned around and went home. I pulled into my garage and got out and ran into the house, only took a couple minutes and I was back out to my car. I left the garage door open so the houses across the street could have seen me but it looked like they weren’t home. soon I was out on my way and now later than I wanted. I got to Easy Street about 7:45 so I really wasn’t that late and I am sure none of my friends even noticed but I hate when I am late someplace.

Anyway as I said in my last blog about Easy street they do not have a lot of parking and so I ended up parking about a half block up on the street. Not too bad as it is a residential neighborhood but it also does not have really good street lights so a girl must be really careful. I got inside and Cassandra, Maya, Cristine and Michele were already there. Now the staff here is awesome and so welcoming, they always say hi and treat us great; as a matter of fact Jodi the woman who runs Easy Street invited us when the Candlelight asked us to come there a little less so they actually want us there which is really nice. Jodi even introduced herself to us all and learned our names what a way to make one feel welcome.

Soon Roxy and Chris showed up so we moved from our both to some tables so we would have more room. We all ordered some food; I got the fish and chips which are really good. A couple got some pizza and even some hot wings and everyone thought their food was good so there you go; they have great food according to the T-girl food network. Cass started a list for pool and we all put our names on it. Even some of the regulars did including a husband and wife (who by the way was named Susan also). She was at ease with us but her husband was a little uneasy at first but a couple of the girls were talking about boats and he came over and joined in and soon he was sitting at our table and having a good time. they were really two awesome people

The band started a little after 9 and that would be the one bad point they have as they do not have a lot of room and with the band playing you could not hear anyone to talk but the music was really good. I guess if you wanted to talk we could have gone to the other end away from the band but the pool table was over by the band and that was what had the group’s attention.

A little later Amber, Jan and Lynn showed up and joined us but with the music we really couldn’t talk. Some were dancing maybe at one point 10 but mostly small groups and mostly woman but then again there dance area is not that big but they all appeared to be having a good time.

Brook showed up (in boy mode) and it was nice to see her again. She is so busy working two jobs she hardly ever gets time to go out let alone as Brook. We got to talk a little during the bands break. She really misses her time out as Brook and I can totally relate as I know how I feel if I miss my Susan time especially for a long period but a girl has to do what a girl has to, to make ends meet and buy her all those pretty cloths, heels and makeup. any way it was a fun night as usual, anytime I can spend with my good friends is fun.

If you have never been to the Easy Street you should give them a try, they are located at 6618 SE Powell Blvd Portland Oregon 97206. They are your friendly neighborhood bar and will go out of their way to make you feel welcome. A big thanks to Jodi and all the staff there, you are all so awesome and look forward to getting to know you all better.

Well the band stopped playing about 1 am and we stayed just a little while longer playing pool and talking. Got a good chance to talk with Jan and Lynn finally which is nice, Jan even won a few games of pool at the end. Jodi came over and thanked us all for coming and invited us back.

It was sad to see our evening come to an end but we were all getting really tired as it has been a long day so we all said our goodbyes and off we went home. not sure where we will be next Friday as it is our night to go to the Candlelight but there is talk about skipping it because of them asking us not to come as often. Now I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand do we really want to go someplace that would rather we didn’t and spend our money there supporting them which is a valid point. On the other side should we let them chase us off? Both equally valid concerns but the point that sticks out in my mind is that most of the staff at the candlelight like us and treat us well and for the most part most of the customers there are okay with us some even look forward to us being there, as one said we bring a breath of fresh air. I guess I would still like to see us go there every once in a while as everyone always seems to have a good time there but I will go with the group as it is being out with my friends which is most important no matter where we go. I guess as it will be torn down next year to make way for the college to expand it really won’t be an issue then.

Any way I hope you all have as great week and thanks for reading and commenting on my blog. Last month I had over 1100 views which just blows my mind.

Bye J

Oh one last note Diva Las Vegas posted the pictures from Diva Las Vegas 2010 so you can check them out and yes there are pictures of me, Cassandra and Peggy there. They are also working on selecting dates for Diva Las Vegas 2011 if you are interested in attending join the announcement list. If they pick dates I can make I will definitely go again as it was so much fun. If you are looking for a chance to be out and about in public and have a great time this is the event you want.

Friday night at Easy Street

Well another Friday night out and I was so ready for it. My work has me really busy right now so it is harder for me to find Susan time. I was unable to get out this last week and I really missed my quiet evening at Starbuck’s. the next two weeks will really be off as of covering vacations even my days will change but on a bright note I have Monday off this week and think I will go shopping as I need some more makeup and maybe a cute new skirt for summer.

Well as I said I was out again and we all tried a new place called Easy Street Saloon (6618 SE Powell Blvd Portland Oregon 97206). After having the little issue at the Candlelight we started to think. Don’t get me wrong we have the right to go and be any place but we also realized that a huge group (sometimes 20 or 25) all going to one place on a regular basis does kind of take over a place and my look like we are just moving in and pushing the others out which is not what we want. We want to be part of the regular group and help bridge the gap. After all if we just take over the place then it is no different than CC Slaughter’s and Embers. The last thing we want is to chase people away as that could cause resentment.

So over the last few weeks we have been coming up with different places we could go, some of the girls Cassandra, Cristine have talked and checked out some of them to see what they thought of us dropping in, Thanks girls for the leg work. So Friday night we picked Easy Street as our first new place. It is a new place and just starting out so they are trying to build business which is good for us. It is more of what I would call a neighborhood bar as they really don’t have a lot of parking which if they are successful could be a problem but other than that it is a really nice place. They do have a band that comes in (I think on weekends only) but two of the band members were sick so there was no band Friday. The staff was just awesome, two very cute and friendly girls and they would come around and see how we were and if we needed anything, great service. The inside is very clean (still new); they have video games and a pool table. Just a really nice place. I would highly recommend you check them out if you are in the area or just looking for a nice place to go it is worth the drive. One last thing prices are really good also, probably better than most places I have been to.

We had a pretty big group as I lost count but would guess 15 or maybe a little more. The customers that were there either didn’t seem to mind us or just didn’t care. We had a really nice evening, some played pool and the rest of us just talked. Later in the evening The Bar tender (Debbie, Hope I got her name right) brought out a blue tote with big wood blocks in it. It was a huge jenga game which I have not played for many years. We all had a great time playing the game and several of the other customers came over and watched from time to time. I lost the first and last game but it was fun. Even a couple who lived in the neighborhood (Erin & Dale) joined in with us to play. They live just a couple blocks away and had been walking their dog and saw us inside so they came back. They were really awesome and had a great time with us. They told us that Easy Street had just opened under new owners and were just starting out and invited us to come back which was really nice. It was a really fun evening. I am sure we will go back but like I said maybe not every week.

Next Friday we are looking at a couple other places and probably won’t decide till later in the week, after all we only decided on East Street on Thursday. Where ever we go I will give a review but for now I would give Easy Street two thumbs up and recommended it to anyone. Well must go for now as I have to go to work later today and have things to take care of. I will post again later after my shopping on Monday. Have a great weekend all. J
