Wednesday night dinner at Mothers Bistro

Well another Wednesday evening and I am going out to dinner with my friends. I really do look forward to this every week. Now I posted it in our group and there were 3 of us going but by Wednesday afternoon 2 more posted they would be there. Now with only 5 I didn’t think we needed to make reservations. I got home and quickly started getting ready, I was ready and on my way by 6 as I did want to get there a little early and get our name in the list. I got downtown and found a parking spot across the street. I went in and they were not that busy wo we really had no problem but I gave my name and told them we had 5 at 7 and then I sat and waited for others to show up.

Jennifer was the first followed by Barb, Kimberly and then Karen. We were shown to our table and our waitress came and took our drink orders and told us about the specials. We talked for a little before we ordered and it is nice when we have these small groups as it is easy to talk with everyone. Now I did get a couple of selfies tonight. Now Karen sat across from me so I got a good chance to talk with her which was nice as she really does not get out that often. Next week I have a few days off and will be able to get out at least a little several days in a row and I ama hoping Karen will be able to go out shopping with me one of those days. It would be a lot of fun; I am actually going to post in our group in hopes of getting some of the girls out shopping.

Our food came and yes, I got my normal dinner here, what can I say I know what I like. Our waitress was wonderful and treated us great. We had a wonderful dinner and wonderful conversation, just an awesome evening. We even sat and talked after we finished as they were not that busy. It was after 9 before we called it a night. It really is amazing how fast these dinners go by. Now I am looking forward to next week. I probably won’t get out on Saturday but I am hoping to get out Sunday afternoon, Tuesday till midafternoon, Wednesday the whole day, Thursday till midafternoon and Friday I am planning on going shopping and to lunch with Peggy. It will be a lot of fun and get me a chance to get some new outfits for Diva Las Vegas.

Thanks for reading and be sure my most recent blog to keep up with what I am doing now.

Saturday night and out at the Escape again

Well it is another Saturday night and yes, I am going to the Escape. I posted in our group I would be there but no one posted back so the only one I know of will be Kris and she told me at Wednesday night dinner she would be there. Well I started getting ready early so I could take my time. I was watching another YouTube video on highlighting and I wanted to try it. Always a little nervous when I try something new but also fun. The goal was to make the area around my eyes a little lighter. Well of course this also takes longer but it was a lot of fun and I was really happy with the look. It was a little after 5 when I left so I would still get there early. It was raining but being early I was able to get a parking spot right in front of the door. I went in and got my normal table and ordered some dinner, I broke down tonight and had the hamburger.

I got my computer out and wrote my blog from Wednesday night’s dinner at Old Town Pizza. It is a couple days late but I really do like writing my blog about my time as Susan when I am out as Susan. my food came and I had a nice dinner and finished up my blog. I was just finishing when Michele showed up. we talked for a while she is planning on going to Diva Las Vegas although she has not booked a room yet. She is thinking of staying off the strip as it is a little cheaper and yes, the gambling will be cheaper. My room rate this year at the Flamingo is about the same as I would pay at the Four Queens which I like by the way. The problem is the Four Queens would have $5 black jack tables, at the Flamingo I am figuring they will be at least $10 and, on the weekends, and maybe the evening probably $15 so it will cost more to gamble. Of course, if I am winning it is good but if you are not having good luck your money goes faster.

Well about 8 Kris and her friend Ed showed up, Kris is in town for a few days. Now by this time it was really busy so we had another group at the end of our table as it seats 10 and there were just 4 of us. It was nice though as I did chat a couple times with the lady next to me. At 9 Karaoke started and there were a lot of people here who wanted to sing, of course Kris went up and put her name on the list. It took about 30 minutes for her to be called up.

Another girl showed up and I talked with her also about Diva Las Vegas, she is also going but also has not booked her room. She is thinking of staying at the LINQ which is next to the Flamingo as she really likes it there. She has gone with us many times and she really like the pool they have there. Several years back when we all stayed there her and her girlfriend rented a pool bungalow almost every day so they could hang out at the pool. I don’t think her girlfriend is going this year though.

A little before 10 Kris and Ed left and shortly after Lauri showed up so we had of us out tonight. By this time, it was so packed it was hard to move around. But it is nice to people watch when it is so busy. Now I had not planned on staying out to late but I was having fun and soon it was after. I noticed there were only 3 people at the bar ordering drinks so I went up and stood in line to pay my bill so I could leave. While I was up there Melissa came in with her husband and a friend. I met her probably a little over a year ago here and she is really nice so we talked for a little while before I called it a night. It was about 11:30 when I left for home.

I got home and washed off my makeup and got into bed and then I realized I forgot to get a picture tonight. I was a little sad as I had done my makeup different. Well I will have to remember next time.

Thanks for reading and be sure and read my most recent blog to see what is new in my life.

Wednesday night dinner at Old Town Pizza

Well once again it is Wednesday and that means I get to have dinner with my friends. This is so awesome as just a little over 12 years ago I was having trouble just getting out to an LGBT club. Just a little background on me. It was probably in the early 2000’s that I set my sights on more than just late-night drives and actually wanted to be out as Susan. my first outing was at Embers which is gone now. I met a couple girls which helped me but it wasn’t till I met Alice who I exchanged e-mail addresses with and she would e-mail me when she came to town. This allowed me the ability to get out a couple times a year. It really wasn’t till I met Cassandra in the fall of 2007 at Halloween but I was still nervous so it wasn’t toll spring of 2008 that I joined her yahoo group and that was when things really improved as I knew when the girls would be at Embers and who would be there and started meeting others like me. Now I pretty much go out whenever I want and anyplace, I want to go and it is such a great feeling. Well back to tonight’s dinner.

I had posted in the group that dinner would be at Old Town Pizza and I had 4 others post they would be there plus 1. I got home late and I had seen the traffic going the other way. Now with no traffic it would take me 20 minutes to get there but tonight I figured 40 to 45 minutes so I really wanted to leave home by 6 or shortly after and as it was 5:20 when I got home would mean a rush to get ready. Now with all my practice over the many times I have gone out I have gotten good at doing my makeup and can if needed do it quickly but I do so much enjoy taking my time and enjoying the experience of becoming Susan. well things went well and I was walking out the door at a couple minutes after 6. To my amazement the traffic I saw on my way home was cleared up and I had no trouble. I actually got to Old Town Pizza a little after 6:30. No usually I can find a parking spot on the same block as Old Town Pizza but tonight was a little strange as when I pulled onto the street there was not one car parked on either side. I parked right in front of the door and looked around. I could see people inside so I knew they were open and I didn’t see any signs that said no parking but not one other car on the block. Well I sat in my car for a little bit and a couple other cars [pulled in and parked so I felt better and walked down and got my parking ticket all .45 cents as I only had to pay for 15 minutes but worth the piece of mind to know I wont get a parking ticket and I went in. there was one couple inside so I pretty much had my choice of tables so I got a round one that seats 6 easily that way we could all talk with each other. Of course, I got my selfie for the night. when I first started going out, I would take so many pictures and then over time I got away from taking pictures as I really do have thousands of them on my computer but now, I do try to get at least 1 picture each time I go out for my blog.

It was only a few minutes and Danika showed up and shortly after her Kris who is back in town for a few days, will probably see her Saturday night at the Escape also. Jennifer and Barb also showed up so we had 5 of us tonight. We all talked for a little bit to wait a little just incase the one girl who said maybe showed up, but she didn’t make it. I am not sure if I have met her yet so this might have been her first outing with the group. Well about 7:20 we went up and ordered food. usually a few of us get pizza and we share, of course I am a little picky on my pizza not such a big fan of the vegetable pizzas so I made sure I ordered a pizza, Canadian bacon and pineapple which is my favorite plus it is healthy as it has the whole food pyramid in it. We ended up with 3 pizzas, a big salad and a plate of Garlic twists so I am sure there will be food left over.

We sat and talked more as we waited for our food and of course some of the other girls took the opportunity to get some picture. I took a couple of Jennifer for her and also for Danika and Kris had Danika take some pictures of her. I know I say this all the time but you really should get some pictures and document your going out or anything in your life you want to remember. Keep it private if you want but have them so you can look back. In 2 month I will be going to Diva Las Vegas for the 9th time and yes I will read through some of my blogs from past times to refresh my memory of things I did, places I went and most important some of the wonderful people I have met, helps me remember names as some of them I only see once a year.

Our food came and yes, we really did order to much food but it was good. I was surprised as when I got here at 6:30 there was no one really here but by 8 several big groups had come in so it was actually a little busy now. The food was good and the night was fun. I really do enjoy sitting around and talking to my friends. As always, the night went by so fast and soon it was after 9 and time to call it a night. we all walked out together and tonight we were all parked pretty close, I think barb had the farthest walk and she was just 6 cars down the block. Now I am looking forward to Saturday night at the Escape and also, I will have a few days off the first week of February and I hope to get out in the morning or early afternoon and do some shopping. Right now, I am planning on meeting Peggy for lunch and some shopping on one of the days which will be fun and hopefully I can meet up with a couple other girls also.

Thanks for reading and be sure and read my most recent blog to see what is new in my life.

Sunday quiet time at Starbucks

Okay it is Sunday and I am gong to get some Susan time at Starbucks. One of my goals for this year is to go out at least 136 times (136 blogs) as that would be my best year 2016 of 135. That means I need to average 11 times per month but more then that I really do enjoy my time at Starbucks. There are things I need to get done on my computer and it is fun to do them as Susan, plus it is just more fun to blog about Susan when I am out as Susan. now with that I am already planning my next vacation. I an taking the first week of February off as I have vacation time I need to use and I have some things I need to take care of mostly around the house. I won’t be able to get my nails done but my hope is to get out a little each day and maybe get a couple of full days in.

Well I have about 3 hours of work I need to do and I do need to write my Blog from last night at the Escape and maybe start this blog so I figure I need 4 to 5 hours at Starbucks. I often wonder what they think when they see me sitting here by myself for that long but I have seen other people here by themselves for long periods of time but I think they are students studding. Well I started getting ready about 2:30 with the hopes of being to Starbucks by 3:30, they close at 8:30 and that would give me 5 hours. I was pretty close as I got to Starbucks about 3:50 and went in. they were a little busy, all the tables along the window were taken, I like them as I can plug my computer in and if I am going to be here almost 5 hours I will need to. well I set my computer on one of the middle tables and went up to order my drink. The girls all said hi and the young man ho waited on me remembered my name and asked me how I have been so chatted with him for a few minutes before I ordered as there was no one in line behind me. Well this worked out great s by the time I got my drink and was walking back to my table the lady at one of the tables by the window left so I just sat my drink on tat table and then went and got my computer and moved it over. Starbucks really is a good place to go and people watch and most people here are busy either working / doing school work, reading or involved in a conversation with someone and really pay no attention to people around them. If you are looking for a place to go this is a great place.

Now to break it up I spent the first hour doing some of my work and then I switched over to write my blog from last night. it is so much more fun doing my blog as Susan as I feel more like I am writing about myself, Susan writing about Susan not my male self, writing about Susan. that may sound strange but it makes total sense to me. Well after I finished my blog I went up and got a hot chocolate and a cookie. Well the young man at the counter got talking to me again and he asked what I do here, if I was working, or just chilling out as he put it. I told him a little of both, I just found it less distraction here as if I was at home, I would have the TV on and he understood that as he does online classes and he knows how easy it is to get distracted. I actually thought about telling him I write my blog here but didn’t. I really think they all think I am full time as I only come here as Susan and for right now I want to keep it that way, I don’t think it would matter or that they would treat mem different but Starbucks is my Susan place and I want to keep that. With my blog done and posted it was back to do some work. I actually do get more done here in a shorter time as there really are less distraction.

It really does bring normalcy to my life as Susan, now I am not saying being Susan is not normal but for years I hid in my room never even imagining I could go out side as Susan. by coming to Starbucks as Susan and doing some work that my male self would normally do and being here where others are doing kind of the same thing it just reinforces the feeling that Susan is more than just something I do on the side for fun, she is a functioning part of my life and actually contributes to who I am. Again, this makes sense to me. Plus, when Susan buys things it is kind of like she earned some of the money she spends. 2 years ago, I started tracking what Susan Spends in Quicken (yes, I use Quickens) and I also put in money she gets as we have gotten a few small checks from the State of Oregon from the law suit back in 2012 with the Pclub. I don’t think what they have collected so far has even kept up with the interest they are charging Chris Penner but I figured I would keep track and if you are wondering my male self is generous as in the last 2 years Susan has spent more money on herself then my male self. Got a little sidetracked there but I really do think being out as Susan and actually doing some of my work has really helped me embrace this side of me.

I finished my work about 7 and tool a little time to start my blog for today at Starbucks of course I will have to finish it later after I get home but I wanted to write what I could as Susan. if I can get most of it written here I can finish it up quickly when I get home and as I will stop for something to eat it will be almost 9 when I get home and as I get up early for work I need to be in bed by 10 or shortly after. I was trying to think when I first went to a Starbucks without going through all my blogs the best guess is the summer of 2009, I made my first trip to Starbucks. Back then I spent an over an hour getting ready, drove 30 minutes to a Starbucks 15 miles away, spent an hour or so there and then 30 minutes home and cleanup time. Now I go to a Starbucks less than a mile from my house, wow how things have changed. Now toward the end a man came in and at first, I thought I saw him take a picture of me so I was kind of watching him. Well it turns out he was taking pictures all over the inside and walking back into the back room and taking notes. I am thinking they might be planning a remodel inside but either way I am sure I am in some of the pictures he took.

It was about 8 when I left Starbucks and I just went home to get something to eat. It was a fun outing. Thanks for reading and be sure and read my most recent blog to see what is new in my life.

Saturday night at the Escape

Well another Saturday is here and yes that means going to the Escape. I really do like my time out but it is not so much about where I go but the fact, I get to see my friends and interact with people. I will admit I am not a big bar or club person, I don’t like alcohol, the way it tastes or how it makes you feel. I honestly believe if you told some of my closest friends that don’t know about this side of me that you saw me in a bar dressed as a female hey would be more shocked, I was in a bar. Now our group does our weekly dinner but the location changes and I think it is good to have a regular place that everyone knows we will be at and feels comfortable especially for the newer girls in the group. Anyway, I posted this morning I would be there and the only response I got was from Cassandra which was awesome, it would be great to see her again.

I started getting ready early as Cassandra is not a fan of loud music so I figured she would be early and leave when Karaoke started so I wanted to get there a little earlier so I could write my blog from Wednesday night’s dinner. I started getting ready a little after 3 and was leaving home right at 5 pm. Now I have been leaving my car in the drive and walking out as Susan instead of parking in the garage but with leaving earlier it was still light outside but I just didn’t care. I didn’t see any of my neighbors out. I got to the Escape a little after 5 and was able to park right in front. I went in and set up my computer and ordered dinner. I started my log and worked on it till my food came, after I ate, I finished it up. just as I was finishing it Kimberly showed up. it was good to see her. she had planned on coming to our Wednesday night dinner but she had t cancel do to snow. While she was ordering I finished my blog and posted it and then put my computer away so we could talk.

Kimberly has a beautiful set of acrylic nails, she got them done about 2 weeks ago, they are a French style and look really cute on her. she works from home so she can get away with it, such a lucky girl. Any way we were talking and she was asking how long she should go before she gets a fill, yes, she is keeping them. Well looking at her nails they grow a little slower than mine and she only has a little grow out so I told her she could wait another week. Well we got on the topic of nails and of course I had to tell her about mine and how I have them for almost 2 weeks when I go to Diva Las Vegas and I was trying to talk he into going. Her big concern is her vacation time so I jokingly said as she works from home she could just as easily work from Las Vegas. Well it turns out that may not have been such a big joke as she is really thinking about it. That would be so cool if she could go, it would be her first time in Las Vegas as Kimberly and also, she could travel as Kimberly which she really wants to try.

It was about 6:30 and Cassandra showed up, it was great to see her again. She has come out a couple times in the last few weeks which is nice, she has more free time now so I am hoping we will see her more. I got a couple selfies for my blog which I am trying to do. I use my blog to record this part of my life and it is nice to have a picture to go with it. I try to encourage everyone to do a blog about events in their lives even if you keep it private as it is nice to be able to look back on things. Cassandra and I were talking about a karaoke bar we went to downtown years ago that has long since closed and neither one of us could remember the name it was easy to look back in my blog and find it, the Boiler room. Well Cassandra and I talked about Diva Las Vegas and she also encourage Kimberly to go. Right now, we have 6 for sure from our group going although 2 of the 6 don’t live in the Portland area. But from Portland we have Cassandra, Julie, Brenda and me for sure and Veronica, Kimberly and a couple others are thinking about it. It really would be fun to have 10 or more from Portland go.

Jan and Lynn also showed up a little after 7 so we had a nice little group here tonight. We all talked and had a good time. About 8 Stacy showed up it was her second week in a row. it is nice when you see girls that don’t get out much getting out more. Now they had a birthday party here tonight so the bar was crowded which is both good and bad. It is nice to interact with all the people but also hard to move around. While we were sitting there a young lady came over and talked to me, seems she met me here over a year ago and remembered me and wanted to say hi, that always makes me feel good. I kind of remembered her but she had to tell me her name again which was Stephani. A little later another woman came over and talked to me, I had also met her a while back. It is so nice to be accepted and treated like anyone else.

Karaoke started at 9 and yes it got loud, James did Karaoke again, his 3rd week in a row and he likes the music loud so it was hard to talk now. Well you guessed it about 9:15 Cassandra and Stacy called it a night and it was down to just Kimberly, Jan, Lynna and me. We sang along with some of the songs and tried to talk between. Lynn got up and sang and did a good job. It was around 10 and Lauri showed up so we had a total of 7 her tonight. Now as I said it was busy and as we had a big table some other people joined us and they did seem bothered by us, actually they even talked with us some which was nice. Now I had only planned on staying till 10 or so but you know how that goes. It was almost 11:30 when I called it a night. it was a fun night out and right now I am planning on a little Starbucks time tomorrow to write my blog and I also have some work to do. Now I don’t really work from home but there are things I need to do on the computer that is kind of work related and it is just so nice to do it as Susan.

Thanks for reading and be sure and read my most current blog to see what is new in my life.

Wednesday night dinner at Southland Whiskey Kitchen

Well it is Wednesday and our group is doing dinner at Southland Whiskey Kitchen weather depending. They are forecasting snow tonight so that may affect how many come out. We have 7 that have said they will be there but a couple live in areas that could be affected by the snow more then others. I actually got home a little early so I was able to take my time getting ready which always makes the evening more enjoyable. I was out the door by 6 and on my way. There was a little snow mixed in with the rain but it was still 36 degrees out. I got down town and drove around the block once and got a spot right on the corner about a half block away which was nice as it was raining and a little windy. It was still before 7 so I had to go to a parking meter and pay but to my surprise the ones on this street you have to put your license plate number in and you don’t get a ticket. This was actually more challenging then it sounds as it was really dark so here, I am trying to hold my umbrella, purse and my cell phone to use the flashlight to see how to work this meter and put my credit card in all at the same time. You would think the parking meter would have lights on it so you could see what you need to do. Well it all worked out and I walked to the Whiskey Kitchen and Barb was just going in as I was walking up. Barb had made reservations at 7pm for 8.

Barb and I sat at the bar as they got our table ready, they were not very busy as I think the weathers scared people, here in Portland snow is a big event as we rarely get it. Melissa arrived just as our table was ready so we went and sat down to wait for other. We checked the groups e-mail and yes 1 had canceled due to weather. It was just before 7 when Jenifer showed up so there were 4 of us tonight. We talked for a little while just in case the other 2 were running late. it was about 7:30 when we ordered as we figured the pother 2 couldn’t make it. I do like it when we get big groups out as I think that is good for the group but it is also really nice to have small groups as it is easy for everyone to be involved in the same conversation and not feel left out. I did get my nightly selfie. Jennifer also got a couple picture of herself.

Our food came and as always it was really good. I would say they are mid-priced; you can find things around $10 or $12 but in general you are looking at about $16 to $20 for a nice dinner and if you like to drink Wednesday nights are a good night to come here. They have their Whiskey special. Any drink with Whiskey is ½ price if you select a whiskey $12 or more so if you like Whiskey and want to sample some different ones this is the place. It really is a good value for the food you get and the food tastes good too.

It really was a wonderful evening out with friends. After dinner our waitress asked if we wanted dessert and I was a good girl and said no but Barb wanted something so she ordered the apple crisp for 2 so she could share it, thanks Barb. It was actually pretty bug as all 4 of us had some and there was still a little left. We sat and talked some more as these dinners really are a nice social event. It was after 9 when we called it a night. we said our goodbyes and I walked to my car; it still amazes me how easily I walk by myself now when I am out. I really didn’t even think about how I was dressed I was just me out with my friends and I was glad it wasn’t raining at this point. Now the funny thing is it had actually warmed up as my car was now reading an outside temperature of 39. It was almost 10 when I got home. what a fun evening and now I am looking forward to the Escape on Saturday night and hopefully Starbucks on Sunday.

One ore thing a quick update on Diva Las Vegas, Julie has booked her room also so she will be there. So looking forward to seeing her again.

Saturday night at the Escape

Well it once again is Saturday and I get to go out to the Escape. I posted in our group earlier today I would be there but no one has posted back so it may be just me. Usually someone shows up but there has been 1 time I was there by myself. Now on my male side I never go to bars and would never think of going by myself but I do know some of the regulars here so it is not that bad but I do hope others show up. I got home late after 4 so I was starting getting ready later then I like. I really do like getting there early and having a little time by myself.

I got to the Escape a little before 6 and the parking lot was full as were the first 5 spots on the street, I think this might be the farthest away I have had to park. I got inside and they were busy a couple big groups and both big tables were taken so I had to get one of the small tables with the high bar stools. I got out my computer and went up and ordered my drink. Now my funny side note, because of laws they no longer have straws and that is not the point here. I keep straws in my cars glove box as I just like to drink with straws as to not mess up my lipstick. Well I forgot to bring one and didn’t want to walk all the way out to my car in the rain for a straw. The funny part of this story is I have never forgot a straw when I park in the parking lot, right outside the door but it seems every time I park on the street, I forget the straw.

Well I sat down with my drink and wrote my blog from Wednesday night dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory as I waited for my dinner. I ordered a couple pancakes but as I didn’t get lunch today so I am sure I will have something else also. My food came and it was good as always. I finished my blog and was also watching the NFL playoffs on the big screen. It is funny as I watch way more sports as Susan then my male self. It was about 7 when the big groups left and so I moved down to one of the big tables, I did sit at the far end though so I wasn’t taking up the whole table incase no one else shows up. the chairs are just more comfortable to sit in.

It was about 7 and Michele showed up and shortly after Stacy also showed up. it has been a while since Stacy has been out, she only comes out once every great while. It was nice to see her again. We all sat and talked and had a nice time. Before we knew it, it was 9 pm and Karaoke started, James was the KJ again tonight and he turns up the volume a little more so it was a lot louder tonight and very hard to talk. We sat and listened to people sing and it was fun but a little loud. It was almost 10 when Lauri showed up. It has been a while since she has been out, it was good to see her out again. Now I was thinking of leaving as I was getting tired but Robyn showed up and she also has not been out in almost a year. It was good to see her also so I stayed a little longer so I could talk with her plus she said Diane was going to show up and she is always a late-night girl but I wanted to stay long enough to say hi to her also.

Diane showed up just before 11 so I talked with her briefly before I paid my bill and called it a night. It really was a fun night. I got home about 11:30. Now this week will be interesting as I have things to do Sunday so won’t make it out tomorrow and the middle of the week, they are calling for snow so we may not be able to do Wednesday night dinner which will be sad.

Thanks for reading and be sure and read my most recent blog to see what is new in my life.

Wednesday night dinner at Old Spaghetti factory

Well it is Wednesday and once again I get to go out with my friends for dinner and that is awesome. Tonight we are going to the Old Spaghetti Factory on the Willamette river. We have gone here many times before and tonight I arrange dinner, last night I called and made reservations for 12 as we have 10 for sure and 2 maybes. I got off work a little early so I had a little more time to enjoy getting ready. I was on my way by 6 and got to the Old Spaghetti Factory about 6:40 as there was a lot of traffic. Jennifer and Danika were already there waiting. It wasn’t long and others started showing up, Kimberly, Barb, Joan, Melissa and April so by 7 there were 8 of us and they called us for our table. We had a table in the middle near the window looking out on the river although it was dark and rainy and you couldn’t see anything.

We sat and talked as we waited for a few others, Patty showed up and finally Cassandra so we had 10 and the last 2 and let me know they wouldn’t make it. It was great Cassandra could make it as she has not been able to come out a lot lately. Now I sat towards the middle so I could talk with everyone. Now Cassandra and I talked a little about Diva Las Vegas which is less than 3 months away, March 29th to April 3rd. Cassandra and I are going for sure as is Brenda and I think Julie and Veronica will also go so we should have at least 5 from our group. Right now, they are doing registration for those who have gone before, soon they will open it up to those on their e-mail list and then finally open to everyone so if you are thinking of going sign up for their email list. It really is a fun event. We all talked and had a great time. We finally ordered and I had their Chicken Parmesan which is awesome but really all their food is good and our waitress was wonderful.

Our food came and we had a nice dinner with wonderful conversation, what more could a girl ask for. These Wednesday night dinners really are the most fun. We sit and enjoy each other’s company and have a nice meal. It is just a n normal night out like everyone else. Jennifer took a picture of me plus I got my normal Selfie. I really am trying to get a picture each time I go out to go with my blog. It is hard to believe this is my 1252 blog, 20 years ago I couldn’t even imagine going out yet alone going out that many times. I have dome so many things as Susan over the last 10 years, shopping, going out to dinner, movies, traveling including 8 times to Las Vegas, Starbucks, getting my nails done. It really has been a wonderful time and made even more special by my friends. I really am a lucky girl. I wish I would have or could have done this earlier in my life. For those just starting out the advice I would give to you is be confident and smile. Both of those things go a long way at putting people at ease and helping them accept you. Also, if you can find some friends that accept you for you then you have hit the lottery.

After dinner we sat and talked till after 9, they actually close at 9 so we were pretty much the last to leave but as the staff was busy cleaning up, they didn’t say anything to us. It was about 9:30 when we left. It really was a great night out and always sad to see it come to an end. I will of course be out this Saturday night again at the Escape but not sure if I will be able to get to Starbucks on Sunday. My goal this year is to make it out 136 times. Right now, 2016 was my best year with 135 blogs or times as Susan.

Thanks for reading and be sure and read my most recent blog to see what is new in my life.

Hope to see some of you in Las Vegas at Diva Las Vegas.

Sunday and finally a chance for a little Susan time at Starbucks.

It is Sunday and I am going to get a little Susan time at Starbucks. This is one of my goals for this year as I really do enjoy my quiet time at Starbucks, I can go there and do some of my work and also catch up on my blogs and e-mails. Yes, I could sit at home and do it just as easy but it is nice to be out as Susan with other people. It is a place you can go and no one really cares or bothers you as there are a lot of people who go her by themselves with their computers. Well I have a couple hours of work I need to do and to write my blog from last night at the Escape and also catch up on e-mails so I figured I needed about 4 hours. The one I usually go to is open to 8:30 not the closest to my house but less then a mile away. My goal was to get there by 4.

I started getting ready about 2:30 and was on my way and got to Starbucks about 3:45 and went in. They were not super busy about 15 people inside but there was a table along the window where I could plug my computer in which is nice if I am going to be here for a while as my computer is getting old and my battery only last about 2 ½ hours now. I set my computer on the table and went up to order my drink. The young man behind the counter greeted me and asked how my holiday was calling me by name which is nice as it has been a couple months since I have been here. We talked briefly before I ordered, it is just a really good feeling to be treated so nice, really all the people here are great and for that matter I don’t think I have ever been to a Starbucks where I wasn’t treated nice. Maybe that is one of the reasons I like going here. Starbucks was really the first mainstream (non-LGBT) place I went and I think that may be why I like coming here so much. My selfie in the car before going in.

I got my drink and started on my work. Now I have not come out to anyone I work with about this part of my life but it is nice I can actually do some of my work as Susan and that helps make Susan part of my everyday life not just a side note in my life. It really does help make Susan a normal part of my life plus it brings a smile to my face as I wonder what work would think if they knew. Now our group has had a lot of discussion lately about coming out to people and I will give my thoughts on it. For me I look at it this way, I am not transitioning and Susan is just part of who I am and so I don’t feel the need to tell everyone. I figure if I am not going to be Susan at work they don’t need to know. Kind of like I don’t talk golf with my friends who don’t like golf. Now I will admit I have thought about what some of my friends would say and there are a few I have thought about telling but I just don’t see the benefit of telling them and risking a friendship. Now I know what some will say, if they are really your friend, they will accept you but I look at it like politics. I have some very liberal friends and some very conservative friends. I respect their views and as such we don’t talk politics. For me this falls into the same category. That being said this is how I feel and what is right for me it does not mean that everyone hast to feel the same as we are all different. Now if you are transitioning then yes, I feel you should tell others or if you are in a relationship with someone, they have the right to know as your life and theirs intertwine. Now I did not tell any of the women I was in a relationship with but back then I had convinced myself I could stop for the right woman. I know now that is not true so yes if or when I get in m my next relationship Susan will have to come up which is very scary.

Anyway, back to our group, one of our girls who is heading in the way of transitioning had as her goal to come out to her Mother in 2019. Well she worked on it, talked with others, got information from them when they came out. Had all kinds of information, and talking points for all the possible arguments and was working up the courage. Well about 1 ½ weeks before Christmas she went over to her mom’s house to come out to her. she said it was the hardest think she had done. Well she came out to her mom and was ready with all her talking points and what actually happened was her mom told her she loved her and accepted her for who she was. well a week later she did the same thing with her sister and got pretty much the same reaction. So, she posted this in our group and several of the girls have posted back about their experiences coming out. It really did bring out a lot of good discussion and that is great. I really thank her for being so open about her experience. Our group is such a wonderful group and we have members who have fully transitioned and live full time to those who are struggling to take that first step out the door and every place in between and I hope this can help some. I know a lot of girls think they can never make it out and they see others making it look so easy and that may make it harder but trust me we were all there that first time. I wrote a blog several months back about my first attempt to go out and how hard it was for me, actually took me 4 times going out to get out of the car. If you are interested here is the blog of my first timeout. I look back on those nights and now how I travel as Susan to Diva Las Vegas and live as Susan for almost two weeks at a time and it seems those are to different people but they are not.

The best advice I can give is there is nothing wrong with you if you are transgender. It is who you are. Try and find some friends even if just online but if you can find some friends to go out with you have hot the lottery. The friends I have made in our group are my best and closest friends and some I view more as family. They have changed my life in ways I never imagined possible and I would not be the person (lady and man) I am now without them. We are all different but also the same in some ways.

Well I stayed at Starbucks till about 7:30 before leaving and stopping at Burger King drive through for some food before going home. it was a fun few hours and I got a lot done. Thanks for reading and be sure and read my most recent blog to see what is new and remember Diva Las Vegas is March 29t to April 4th. If interested sign up for their mailer. Hope to see you there. We will have at least 4 from our Portland group going but I am hopeful we will have closer to 10 or more.

First Saturday of 2020, first outing for Susan this year

It is the First Saturday of 2020; I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New years and that this year bring you all the joy and happiness you deserve. Well, being Saturday I am of course going to the Escape tonight and I am looking forward to it. I have set a few goals for this year, New Years resolutions if you will. 1 to try to average at least 2 times a week out as Susan, yes I hope to get back to going to Starbucks more, it has been almost 2 months since I last went to a Starbucks and I do enjoy my quiet time there as Susan writing my blogs and catching up on work. The second goal is to lose weight, now this has been on my list the last 2 years but this year actually the last month or so of 2019 I actually lost about 8 pounds and have kept them off. Well back to today’s outing to the Escape. My plan was to start getting ready about 3:30 with the hopes of being to the Escape by 5 or shortly after. Well it has been a long and busy week and it turns out I fell asleep on the couch and didn’t wake up till almost 4:30 so it was a rush getting ready. I got to the Escape a little before 6 which was still before what I posted in the group. The lot was full so I had to park on the street but still a short walk.

I got my normal table and set up my computer and then went up to order some food, yes Pancakes again. As I was ordering Nicole showed up. she also ordered some food and we sat down at the table to talk so I put away my computer. I only bring it to have something to do till others show up. I am not a big fan of sitting in a bar by myself and I figure at least this way I have something to do. It wasn’t long and Laura M showed up, this is her third week in a row. it was just a little past 6 and we had 3 of us here already. Next to arrive was Michele and then Melissa so we had 5 of us here by 6:30. It was nice to just sit and talk. Of course, I brought up Diva Las Vegas as I am always hopeful of getting some of the other girls to go. Right now, Cassandra and I are going for sure and have booked our rooms, Brenda also contacted me on Facebook and she is going and I am hopeful Michele will go this year. I am looking forward to it as this will be my 9th time going. I went in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019. It seems like just yesterday I was all excited about going for the first time and now 10 years later here I am. It is still hard to believe I am taking vacations and traveling completely as Susan. now I did get my customary selfie again tonight.

It started getting busy early tonight, probably because James was the KJ for Karaoke. He used to do it every Saturday night and a lot of people know him and he promoted it on his Facebook page, plus there was a big group at the next table celebrating what turned out to be a final divorce and they even had a cake. Well it was about 9:15 when Karaoke started and it got loud, I think a little louder than normal as I think James turned the volume up so it was really hard to talk even to the person right next to you. About 9:30 Melissa called it a night and shortly after so did Michele so it was just Laura, Nicole and I now. It was just before 10 when Melissa and her husband showed up, I met her here over a year ago and we hit it off. Yes, it can get confusing as I have friends with the same names that sometimes show up on the same night. any way her and her husband sat down at our table and we tried to talk but really, we could only talk between songs.

It was about 10:15 when Nicole called it a night and I had actually planned on leaving about 10:30. Well I was talking with Melissa and she was trying to talk me into singing which I didn’t. but she asked me what song I wanted her to sing so since I picked it out, I felt I should stay till she sang. Besides I was having fun. I really do have wonderful friends in the group but it is also nice that I have friends outside of the group that accept me for who I am. I really have come a long way over the last 12 years. Well before I knew it, it was almost midnight way past this girl’s bedtime. I was getting ready to call it a night and another young girl came over and started talking to me. She said she had met me here before and I was the only face she knew here and she wasn’t sure if I would remember her but I did, well not by mime. I met her and her sister her right after she moved to Portland, her sister had helped her move up from California. I told her I did remember her but not her name which turns out is Petra. Here is a link to the blog from when I met her back in March of 2018. Now when I was writing this blog, I did look back to get the link and the night I met them I git her Sisters name but not hers. She is the last picture in this blog, lower right. This is why I really like keeping my blog.

Well I stayed a little longer so we could talk, she really is a nice young lady. It really was a fun night but I stayed out way later then I planned. It was about 12:15 when I went up and paid my bill. I will regret it in the morning when my alarm goes off but tonight was worth it. I said goodbye to Laura, Melissa and Petra and then headed for home. Now on the way I decided I was going to go to Starbucks Tomorrow, well actually later today as it really is Sunday already. I do have a little work I have to do and it is just so much more fun to do it at Starbucks as Susan then at home.

Thanks for reading and be sure and check out my most recent blog to see what I am doing now.
