Rose City T-girl Winter Gala
Well Saturday night was our 3rd annual Winter Gala, Kathy and Mandie open there home each year and host this wonderful party with the help of Danielle and I am sure others. I have been looking forward to this for weeks now. I wore my long black dress which I got for the T-Girl pageant 2 years ago. I really don’t have much of a chance to wear it as this is only the second time. Now the funny thing is when I wore it last at the pageant I had help and really never thought about it but being a tight dress I found it hard to zip up the back by myself. Took a little work but I did manage to get it on. Getting into the car and driving was also a challenge in a long dress. I guess I will just have to wear it more to get use to it.
I got to their home just before 6 pm and there were already people there. They had so much food set out and a
friend making drinks at their bar, their friend who’s name escapes me I have met before as she has come out with them with the group a few time. She had on the cutes outfit, kind of a miss clause look so I had to get a picture with her. The first and only picture I got as my batteries went dead, I guess I really am blonde as I should have taken extra batteries but there were lots of other cameras there so I will have other pictures. The food they had was awesome, so delicious and so much they really out did themselves.
We had a good turn out; I would guess 40 made it to the party including Teresa who joined us on Skype from Thailand. She had SRS surgery a week ago and is not recovering over there for a few more weeks. It was good to see her even if only on the computer. It really is amazing what technology can do now days. There were a few girls that only come out to the parties so it was good to see them again.
Jessica and Trisha (Trisha was in male mode) also made it. I would never have recognized Trisha if it had not been for her wife with her. I give her a lot of credit for this as it is still something I can’t do. Now there are a few friends that have seen me as my male self and a few others I would be totally comfortable meeting that way but still don’t think I could just show up in front of so many as my male self. It was good to see them again and get time to talk to them. They are an awesome couple and Jessica is so supportive of Trisha. We only met a little while ago but we have become good friends as they have a way to make you feel so welcome and at ease.
Robyn a t-girl from Seattle was also there. I met her at the Halloween party and she joined our group so she came down for the party and I got a chance to talk with her also. She has also started to go to Starbucks up by her house.
Jenn also made it; I first met her at the Halloween party to. She also has an accepting wife which is awesome. She also has only been out a few times and never out in public. I hope she will come out more with the group to the P-Club, she also lives not far from the Starbucks I go to so maybe someday we can meet there.
Cassandra and her wife Peggy were there of course, Cassandra brought her laptop so we could Skype with Teresa that way we could see her and she could see all of us. Peggy and Jessica both had on the same cute black dress. Jessica had added some sparkle to hers so they did look a little different but Peggy was the one who realized it.
Wow so many wonderful friends were at the party and everyone looked so pretty. The dresses that were there were awesome. It was a perfect night. Jan won the contest for the highest heels at 4 ½ inches. We also had our T-Girl walk; we all one at a time descended the stairs, at the bottom we gave our name and curtsied then sat down in a chair. All the GG’s judged us on this and in the end Marla won. She really did come down the stairs well. It is funny as a guy you don’t think about such things but as a girl descending stairs in 4″ heel and a long dress is a challenge. I will have to work on this more for next year’s party.
Most of the night we just sat and chatted which I really do enjoy plus since I had on 4″ heels sitting was good as I went the whole night without removing them. The white room where they have their Christmas tree is where I spent most of the night, Peggy, Jessica, Trisha, Victoria, Jan, Lynn and Robyn were all there and we just chatted four hours. It really is funny how fast the night went. Soon it was midnight and we all wondered where the time went. People started to leave and the night was coming to an end. I didn’t want the night to end but knew it had to as I had to be up early Sunday morning. It was about 12:30 when I started saying goodnight to all my wonderful friends. It was truly a magical night and I lo0ok forward to the next party and the next time I get to see my friends.
A big thanks to Kathy and Mandie for opening their home for such a grand party. You two are awesome.
People watching at Starbuck’s 1-20-2010
Well I made it out on my usual Wednesday night trip to Starbuck’s. The two women that work there are starting to know me as they remembered what I wanted to drink and both asked me how my night was going. I guess that moves me into the realm of being a regular which is kind of nice. Again they were not real busy when I got here maybe 10 other people two of which were young girls maybe 14 – 15 and for the first time sense I have been coming here I got some looks. They seemed more curious about me than anything else and looked over at me a few times to see what I was doing and then went back to their conversation and seemed to forgot about me. The rest of the people here paid me no attention even the guy I stood in line next to.
I find it so relaxing to be out in public as Susan, it is hard to explain. I come here to Starbucks and spend a couple hours on my computer doing things I could easily do at home but somehow it is more fun here. I can watch the other people around me and even sometimes listen in on what they are talking about at the tables next to me. Even though I am here by myself it is almost like I am not alone. You would also be amazed at how many people come here by themselves. Right now there is a man in the corner reading a book. The man at the table next to me looks like he is doing school work. There are the two young girls sitting talking and they have not even looked my way for a long time so I think the fascination of me has worn off and now I am just another customer. There is a couple behind me and 3 other people (2 men and 1 woman) at tables on their computers just like me. Other than that it has been the people who come in to get something to go and even they don’t pay any attention to me. It gives me a chance to catch up on my blog and e-mails. I hope my blog is not to boring as it tends to cover some of the same things but it is my way of recording my time as Susan so it is as much for me as everyone else.
Let see what else I can talk about tonight; I am starting to plan for my trip to Diva Las Vegas and am trying to figure out what types of clothes I should by. I have some nice dresses, skirts and tops but only a couple pairs of pants. I need to figure out a casual look for Susan for the trip I also need to get some shoes for walking as everything I have has heels and that might look a little odd especially when we go golfing. I defiantly need to do some shopping but am going to put it off for a little bit so I can try to drop a few pounds, boy I so sound like a woman. This trip is going to be so much fun.
Well the two young girls left and never even looked my way on their way out. Several more people have come in and it is the busiest they have been tonight but still nothing like last week.
Happy New Year to all
I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy and safe New Year. Please be extra careful and drive safe. There are many alternatives to driving if you want to drink, taxis, buses, carpool or ride with a friend. We all like to have a good time but the last thing anyone needs is a DUI or worst being in a wreck. Please have a safe, fun and Happy New Year.
Movie and shopping
Well Susan wanted to get out for a few hours today and maybe do some shopping. I headed down to Clackamas Town center and could not believe how busy they were. I guess everyone had the same idea as they were packed. I decided to start off going to a movie. I have wanted to see 2012 sense it came out. Even back by the theater was busy and I had to park way out in the parking lot. I walked in and got my ticket for the 11:25 showing and went in. there were about 20 other people in the theater. It was nice to be out and the movie was really good. If you have not seen it you should check it out.
After the movie I went out and the mall was wall to wall people and I just couldn’t get myself to walk out into the mall so I left and went out to my car again walking across the parking lot. I drove around over by JC Pennies and found a parking spot about half way out so I decided to go in and look around. There were still people going in and out but not like it was inside the mall. I spent about 30 minutes looking around but didn’t find anything I liked.
From there I went to Kmart as I needed more makeup and they are the only one that sells pan stick which I need for the coverage. They were all out and only had a very limited supply of any max factor products so I was a little disappointed. But I was still having fun being out. In all it was a fun day.
When I got home I checked online for where I could find Max Factor pan stick and guess what? As of January 1 2010 Max Factor is no longer available in US so I now need to find a new makeup. That really is not good as I have not found anything that covers my beard shadow as well as Max Factor. If anyone has another type of makeup that will work please let me know as I am almost out.
Merry Christmas Vs. Happy Holiday
Merry Christmas vs. Happy Holiday
It just amazes me how this has become such an issue. I posted Merry Christmas to all my friends in a group I belong to and it started a whole discussion on Merry Christmas verses Happy Holidays. One of the post was “why do everyone assume everyone else celebrates Christmas and why should we have this shoved on us”. To be fair I also know people who are just the same the other way, to them it is Merry Christmas not Happy Holidays. I don’t get it. You never hear this at other holidays. I know people who do not celebrate Halloween but it is fine to wish them a Happy Halloween. Same goes for the rest, Easter, Thanksgiving, 4th of July Cinco Demayo, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, or Festivs. I have friends who wish me Happy Chanukah which I do not celebrate but it does not bother me. They do and they have the right to and they also have the right of freedom of speech to say that. That is one of the great things about our country; we have the right of freedom of speech, religion and a bunch of other rights. We truly live in the greatest Country in the world.
No matter what you believe or celebrate the fact is today is Christmas and is celebrated and recognized all over the world, not by every person I agree on that. How can it be bad to wish someone a Merry Christmas? For me it is Christmas day and that includes the religious side of it and all that goes along with it. When I wish you a Merry Christmas I am not forcing my beliefs on you or trying to make you change it is just my way of greeting you on this day. As I said I have that right of freedom of speech as do you so you can wish me a Happy Holiday and I am fine with that. I will not make you wish me a Merry Christmas.
The simple fact is your rights are no more important than mine or anyone else. You have no more right to tell me what to say or how to say it than I have to tell you. Simply saying Merry Christmas is not forcing religion on you. I will continue to wish people Merry Christmas, if that is what you celebrate and or believe then fine, wish me Merry Christmas back. If not wish me Happy Holidays, Happy Festivs, Happy Santa Day or any other thing you celebrate or believe. I promise I will not take offence at your beliefs, traditions or whatever you celebrate I just ask for the same consideration. We all have differences but we are all the same too. We have taken being politically correct way too far. We all need to just lighten up.
So with that said, Merry Christmas to all and may your day be filled with family, fun and Love no matter how you choose to celebrate today.
Sorry for going off topic of my blog but I just felt Ithis was important for me to say how I feel.
